Last month we caught up with Richard a member of our Operations Team and IT Communications who told us about a particularly unusual moment involving a giant fibreglass giraffe.
In the hot seat this month is Brian, who works as our depot supervisor. He’s been with Eagle Couriers for six years now and has certainly found his place within our company.
We found out the three items he would bring to a desert island, as well as discovering a rather unexpected fact about him:
What do you do at Eagle Couriers?
I’m a depot supervisor.
How long have you been working at Eagle Couriers?
I have been with the company for about six years.
Do you have any strange delivery stories/encounters from your time at Eagle couriers?
Yes, a while back I was delivering something to what I thought was a woman’s door. I ring the doorbell, and as I’m waiting I’m looking at the ground. Then the door opened and I was looking down at this pair of heels, I look up and it’s a man dressed in women’s clothing!
I said to them ‘are you Mrs Kennedy?’ and in this really deep voice they replied with “yes, that’d be me”.
That was probably the strangest thing that’s ever happened to me.
What do you most enjoy about working at Eagle Couriers?
The rewards for performance and loyalty, the company really do look after their staff.
What’s something unexpected about you?
I’m pretty boring these days. I suppose if there was one thing, it’s that I used to be a semi-professional snooker player when I was a teenager.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I really like watching movies and taking my daughter to the cinema.
I used to play online poker as well; I was sponsored by a company for a little while until they dropped me for not making them enough money.
What’s one food that you can’t stand?
I can’t stand brussels sprouts or mayonnaise.
If you could live inside the world of any book/ TV / series or film which one would it be and why?
James Bond. I’m a massive James Bond fanatic.
What kind of animal do you think you’d be?
My kid calls me a gorilla because I’m ‘hairy and grumpy’. So I’d probably be a gorilla.
If you could have dinner with any 5 people living or dead, who would it be and why?
Roger Moore; Sean Connery; Will Smith, he’d be a good laugh; The Pope – just to bring something a bit different to the table; and Jimmy White, a former professional snooker player.
If you were stranded on a desert Island – and you could only bring three things with you – what would they be and why?
I would a bring Rubik’s cube to keep me occupied.
An iPod or some sort of music device, I love my music.
And also a boat, so I could get off the desert island in case I got really bored of it.
If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?
I think I’d have to say invisibility.
Just to be able to sneak around and see what everyone else is up to.
If you could travel to any point in time, where would you go?
I think I would probably go all the way back to the Greek times. I think it would be really interesting to see how life was back then.
If you could teleport yourself anywhere in the world right now where would it be?
Australia – it would be really lovely to be able to go out there.
