Last month we caught up with Brian our depot supervisor who shared with us an unexpected fact about himself and the logic behind why he would take a Rubik’s Cube to a desert island.
This month it’s the turn of Louise who works as an Operations Assistant at our busy Bathgate hub. Louise has been with the company for four and a half years and quickly settled in.
Read on to find out the unexpected food Louise can’t stand, as well as the qualities that inform her choice of cat when asked which animal she would be:
What do you do at Eagle Couriers?
I’m an operations assistant which means I cover a wide range of jobs and no two days are the same. It involves a lot of customer service; from taking bookings, answering queries and handling complaints.
How long have you been working at Eagle Couriers?
I find it hard to believe, but I have now been here four and a half years.
Do you have any strange delivery stories/encounters from your time at Eagle couriers?
This is all going to sound a bit morbid! I have had a few calls asking for people’s ashes to be couriered. This is always quite difficult as it’s important to be really empathetic. I really feel for them because it’s obviously a very difficult time for the customer.
Through our work with the Royal Dick Veterinary College I also deal with a lot of dead birds and animals needing couriered for important research. Usually they are being brought from remote areas into towns and cities for vets and scientists to research.
What do you most enjoy about working at Eagle Couriers?
I love my job. It’s as simple as that. I love speaking to customers and it’s so satisfying being able to turn a complaining customer into a happy delighted one. It’s really rewarding.
What’s something unexpected about you?
I’m an identical twin. I’m six minutes older which I love to point out! I’m not sure I believe in all the paranormal stuff but there have been a few spooky twin moments over the years.
One that springs to mind is when we were younger and I was playing in the park I fell and hurt my knee. My sister, who wasn’t with me, came home that same day complaining she had a sore knee and didn’t know why.
There have also been many instances where we’ve showed up wearing the exact same clothes. The most embarrassing one was at a wedding!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I have a 17 and 19 year old so most of my time is spent looking after the family.
I’m really outdoorsy so my husband and I go wild camping and fishing every weekend in the summer. Last summer our new toy was a canoe which was really fun and meant we were able to catch a lot more fish.
What’s one food that you can’t stand?
Brussels sprouts are an absolute no! But also ice cream which I know is a strange one as it seems to be universally beloved.
If you could live inside the world of any book/ TV / series or film which one would it be and why?
It’s so hard to choose just one! But I love comedies so I would have to say Bridesmaids.
What kind of animal do you think you’d be?
This is also a tough one but I’d have to say a cat. I have a cat of my own which I love but they are loyal, independent and affectionate just like me.
If you could have dinner with any 5 people living or dead, who would it be and why?
Since I love comedians it would have to be Melissa McCarthy, Billy Connelly, Kevin Bridges and Tom Hardy (for the eye candy).
I’d love my late aunt to be there too. She always loved comedy so I’d love to make her laugh. She was such a funny and sociable person so the five of them together would be such a great laugh.
If you were stranded on a desert Island – and you could only bring three things with you – what would they be and why?
You really don’t need anything! I’m so outdoorsy, I’m confident I could make a fire without a match or catch a fish without a rod.
But if I had to bring something it would be my hair mousse, my two daughters for some company and a game to play to keep us busy.
If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?
It would have to be the ability to fly. I don’t drive so this would be ideal and stop me relying on my husband to drive me places.
If you could travel to any point in time, where would you go?
I’d love to go back to the 1960s. Everything about it seems so fun – the swinging 60s, the music and the flower power.
If you could teleport yourself anywhere in the world right now where would it be?
It would have to be Canada. My childhood best friend lives out there and I’ve only seen her twice in eleven years so that would be nice. She really bonded with my two children when they were wee so I’d love to have the same connection with her three children.
