THIS year marks a major milestone for Eagle Couriers, Scotland’s largest independent courier company, as it celebrates 40 years in business.
From humble beginnings to a trusted national network, the company has seen remarkable evolution, not least in its diversification into aviation logistics.
Eagle Aviation, sister to Eagle Couriers, is a specialist in airline baggage repatriation service, born out of the acquisition of THS Couriers in 2017, with the same values that have made Eagle Couriers a trusted name: precision, reliability and an unwavering commitment to customer service.
This acquisition made Eagle truly a national operation, with major hubs at Heathrow and Gatwick right through to Inverness.
Pre-pandemic, Eagle Aviation was already handling around 350,000 items annually, but since Covid, that number has soared. The team now processes more than 800,000 items every year across the UK, reflecting both the return of air travel and the team’s unmatched operational capacity.
Fiona Deas, Managing Director of Eagle Couriers, said: “Our biggest change in recent times was our THS takeover. At the time we only directly serviced Scotland, but our takeover of THS put us at the front of the national stage.”
That momentum continued in 2022 with the acquisition of Groundcare Solutions, a leading name in the same market. The move significantly bolstered Eagle Aviation’s presence in and around London, reinforcing its status as a key player in the capital’s busy aviation logistics sector.
Just as Eagle Couriers has grown to meet the demands of a changing logistics landscape, Eagle Aviation has scaled in step, expanding its client base to include global names like Lufthansa Group and Virgin Atlantic to name a few.
What started as a niche service has become a vital link in the travel experience, ensuring passengers are swiftly and professionally reunited with their belongings when delays occur.
