40 years of courier excellence for Eagle Couriers
Eagle Couriers was born out of necessity in 1985 when two brothers realised there had to be a faster way to get airline tickets from their travel agency office to customers.
Their solution? A dedicated courier company that could streamline deliveries, ensuring customers received their tickets within hours, making it to their flights on time.
While the brothers eventually moved on from the travel agency, they made sure the legacy of flight remained at the heart of their new full-time venture: Eagle Couriers.
The company quickly expanded from delivering airline tickets to transporting essential documents for large organisations and handling precious cargo, such as priceless artwork moving between galleries.
As technology transformed the industry, Eagle continued to soar. Paperwork gave way to emails, photographs became digital, and the company adapted seamlessly.
Its reputation as Scotland’s delivery expert earned Eagle Couriers contracts with some of the country’s biggest names, including the Scottish Government, the NHS, and Rockstar North, the creators of the global phenomenon Grand Theft Auto.
With growth came increasingly complex deliveries, but Eagle rose to the challenge every time.
One such case involved transporting a pallet of lithium batteries from Scotland to Africa, a highly regulated and complicated task. After crossing land by train and sea by ship, Eagle made it happen.
Operations Manager, Samuel Milne recalls: “The customer came to us after being turned away by other courier companies. Despite the complexity, we took on the job and made the process as stress-free as possible.
“Working with our contacts, we got the batteries to a port down south, shipped them to Africa, and arranged safe rail transport to their final destination.
“The customer was incredibly grateful, especially after being turned down by several other companies. It was a rewarding challenge for us.”
Eagle Couriers’ adaptability was also put to the test during the COVID-19 pandemic, when its role became more vital than ever.
Throughout the nationwide lockdown, Eagle was responsible for collecting COVID-19 tests from every care home in Scotland, daily.
This operation demanded first-rate logistics and relentless determination, supported by 70 new temporary and permanent staff members hired to ensure the company played its crucial role in an unprecedented chapter of world history.
Now operating from seven depots across the UK, Eagle Couriers moves goods worldwide for more than 3,000 clients.
